Hello, Goodbye

August is a month of miracles. I’m not just saying this because I happen to be born in August, although birth is miraculous. And there are plenty of notable people born this month, from Mother Teresa to Barack Obama. 

I call it a month of miracles because the energy of August bursts at the seams with an intensity that will either drive you wild with ecstasy or misery. It is often looked upon as the month of chaos and tragedy. The Watts Riots, the atomic bombings in Japan, and the resignation of President Richard Nixon are just a few of the jarring historical events that happened in August. 

But it is also the month of Woodstock 1969, the March on Washington, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the ratification of the nineteenth amendment, granting women the right to vote. 

Life shifts in August. Endings end so that beginnings can begin. Hang on, surround yourself with people you love, and take this month one day at a time.
