Tonight’s prompt is inspired by my conversation with cancer survivor Liz Benditt!
We talked about how difficult it is for us to reach out and ask for help when we need it.
Cancer patients and caregivers often feel overwhelmed emotionally and physically, but they are reluctant to ask for and receive assistance.
I know this feeling well because my mother was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. It was challenging for me to reach out for emotional support because I didn’t want to be burdensome.
But holding on to the stress just weakened my role as a caregiver.
Big shout-out to my cousins, Jimmy and John, for checking on me and helping when possible. ❤
So, the big takeaway is to ask for help! And if someone isn’t able to support you, that’s okay. Just ask someone else.
Ask for professional help if you need it. Keep asking because, eventually, you’ll get a “Yes!”
