In my conversation with psychologist Dr. Orin Davis (premiering this week on ZayZoh.com), we discuss leaning into our uniqueness versus focusing on our talents.
I used to think that our talents are what make us unique. But Dr. Davis has a different view. He says it isn’t our talents, but instead, our experiences make us exceptional.
You can be the best writer or singer, or chef, and you wouldn’t be alone. There are many great writers, singers, and chefs. But it’s your experience as an Asian-American growing up in Los Angeles, or as a child raised with six siblings, or as a cancer survivor that distinguishes you from the crowd.
It’s those experiences that will shine through your writing, singing, and cooking.
Consider all your life experiences so far. How do they contribute to who you are today? Now you’re tapping into your uniqueness.
